June 9, 2010 Wednesday
The first thing I did with Mt. Tabor Church was to get to know the pastor, Kevin Lay. We met at Subway and talked over dinner. I then attended Mt. Tabor’s Wednesday Night Bible Study.
June 10, 2010 Thursday
Today I followed Kevin on three home visitations. Having never done a visitation it was a fun and rewarding experience. Over lunch I learned that Kevin loves to ask questions. Most of his questions made me think about my future ministry. One such question was how would or could I use visiting in children and youth ministry and/or music ministry? My response for children and youth ministry was to spend time with small groups of kids or visit with the families of the kids. A possible way to use visiting in music ministry is to teach lessons to those that are interested.
June 11, 2010 Friday
Kevin and I took two of the youth girls out for lunch and to play mini-golf. Even though I had never met the girls before it was a good experience. I was able to get to know them and invest some time in them.
June 12, 2010 Saturday
I met a group from Mt. Tabor at a Habitat for Humanity house in Chambersburg and spent the morning working with them. For most of the time I helped pull nails out of boards along with a physically disabled man. It was a rewarding experience.
June 13, 2010 Sunday
At Mt. Tabor’s church service I played a flute piece for the call to worship and then ministered through dance for the offeratory. I also taught Sunday school for the youth class. Overall my time with Kevin at Mt. Tabor taught me a lot and let me experience so much
